Rumba (or Rhumba) is a secular Afro-Cuban dance and music genre, the rumba dates from the late 19th century when it was an entertainment of both rural and urban blacks. Although often a forum for political satire, the texts of the rumba may address whatever is current or relevant, be it love, current events, or even the rumba itself. The standard rumba ensemble includes a lead vocalist, a chorus and at least three percussionists. There are several types of rumba including yambú, colombia and guaguancó.
