Charanga is the name for a Cuban dance ensemble that emerged in the first decade of the 1900s. Since the 1960s the ensemble is more likely to be called an orquesta (or orchestra). The greatest contribution of the charanga style is the "cha-cha-chá" developed in the 1950s.
