The wind quintet is the most significant genre of chamber music for winds, but it actually includes a brass instrument -- the French horn. This quintet features one of each instrument from the wind section of an orchestra -- the flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. While chamber music for winds can include any number or combination of these instruments, another common ensemble is the woodwind trio of flute, clarinet, and bassoon.
