Frame drums come from many different origins, from Celtic to Native American. They are similar in that they are all single-headed hand drums, like large tambourines without the jingles. The “bodhran” frame drum, of Irish origin, is made with a traditional goatskin head, hardwood cross braces, and a laminated hardwood shell, and is played with a wooden beater.
