G-Funk

The origin of the G-Funk sound almost exclusively belongs to Warren G and Nate Dog. These two platinum West Coast artist have combined Nate Dog's singing ability with Warren G's smooth rap vocals, and Funk music to create a sound that is relaxing.

2026 note

G-funk was popularized by Dr. Dre’s The Chronic (1992); producer Cold 187um (Big Hutch) is credited as an originator. Warren G and Nate Dogg (spelled “Nate Dog” here) came later.
