Crossover jazz is a combination of jazz and pop or R&B music. Often it is performed by jazz players who "crossover" into the popular realm. George Benson, Al Jarreau, Grover Washington, Jr., and Chuck Mangione are all examples of musicians who have kept jazz alive in their crossover music. However, the term is often used to describe instrumental pop music that has almost nothing to do with jazz.
