WinZip is one of the more popular archiver shells available. It has internal support for zip archives and additional support for several other types of archives like TAR, gzip, Uuencode, BinHex, ARJ, MIME, LZH, ARC and CAB. Additionally, it showcases many features such as the optional "wizard" interface and toolbar shortcuts.

The latest addition to the Zip product line, the Zip 250 USB drive, offers mobility (1 inch thick and weighs just under a pound) that meets the high-capacity storage needs for both PC and Mac users. Connect the drive with the industry-standard USB port, or for mobile users, the drive also provides a host-powered PCMCIA interface. The Zip 250MB USB drive comes with software for backing up files, as well as for recording and playing music.

The Iomega 1GB SCSI Jaz drive uses 1.07GB removable Jaz cartridges to provide portable storage. This external drive features average seek times of 10ms (read) and 12ms (write) and a sustained average transfer rate of 5.4MB per second. It uses the fast SCSI-2 interface to communicate with the system. A 50-pin to 50-pin hard drive cable, and a 25-pin converter come included with the unit. Iomega's new Jaz 2GB is designed for people with large capacity storage needs. If nothing but the highest capacity and fastest speed will do, the Jaz 2GB is your drive, but at $649 ($549 internal), its out of the average amateur storage user's league. In addition, each 2GB cartridge costs $169 (one cartridge comes with the drive). If you're on a budget but you need gigabytes of storage, consider the Jaz 1GB, which is slower, but costs less than half the price for drive ($299) and cartridges.
