Old school is such a huge part of hip hop history. The style of dress was so in the early and mid 80's, it helped to define rap. Pioneers Run DMC and LL Cool J started it by wearing Kanko hats with jogging suits. Fat shoelaces in sneakers or no shoelaces at all created a look that had not been seen before. Another look from the old school was the thick gold chains and the belt buckles that had either someone's initials or their name on them. Flat-top haircuts dominated the top of people's heads across the country. And when the culture wasn't showing off their flat tops, they could be seen with the brim of their hats pointed sideways. Old School Hip Hop had a style all its own, and fans loved immolating it. Hip Hop fashion dictated the way people dressed in the early 80's and it still does today.
