The hula dancing style that emerged from the revival of native Huawaiian customs in the 1870s. Drums with fish-skin covers together with the nose flute accompany the hula. The nose flute is approximately 10 to 20 inches long with two or three finger holes and a nose hole. The flute is held in the right hand and blown with the right nostril, while the life nostril is held closed with the left hand.
