Film Music

Classically trained composers have been writing music for film ever since the invention of the "talkies" -- movies that have sound. There was an influx of great composers around the time of World War II when many European musicians who immigrated to the United States were able to find work in Hollywood. Also, movie directors frequently have selected standards from the classical repertoire to include in their films.
