I've been feeling better, all my troubled days are gone. I've forgotten all the faces of the people I've been stepping on. I keep getting better, climbing higher every day. I'm going all the way. I been running the rat race, trying to save face, trying to keep my place. I'm entitled to everything. Playing the sideshows, learning to brownnose, playing cards close, counting my pesos, Dont' trust me with anything. If you want to call me "brother," maybe you should call me "Cain;" I am not your keeper, but I might be your Grim Reaper. Well I know I'll make it and I keep on climbing higher, standing on the necks of giants, I'm gonna reach that big ring hanging from the sky. All it takes is a fall from innocence, just one little fall from innocence. Life is vicious but I know that I can make my mark. You take the gag and I take the blindfold, you take the rope and I'll take the handcuffs, then we dump the body in the park... and it doesn't matter who I bury if I get ahead, gotta keep my ego fed. I been wearing a fake smile, pushing the new style, choking back my bile, now I'm on the fastrack. Playing the martyr, use it for barter, lie to your face to stay in your good grace, just to stab you in the back. |

I kind of wrote this song completely by accident... I was trying to work on something else and I picked the wrong loop in Acid music and then I burst out laughing. After that, it was too late, this song had to be written or I would have no piece. Since the idea of the Baptist Death Ray writing a Disco-ish, Funk-ish kind of song is pretty ridiculous in itself, the topic had to be equally ridiculous. So I chose as my topic a few musicians we've all met throughout our lives, but quite often in the MP3.com bulletin boards. |
