i've had this idea for a while and not sure if there is a real radio station that offers this. what if a radio station was completely programmed by internet users of their listening audience. daily the playlist could be selected by listeners logging into thier website and choosing or suggesting music to be played the next day.. sort of like a 24 hour request line. i think this would be a very cool thing for stations to promote..and it would bring the listener closer to listening to what they wanted to really hear. just a thought, what do you think? ------------------ IP: Logged |

The tough part is getting the radio station. Them buggers are expensive, and most of em have been bought up by big conglomerates. These stations usually get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in promo money to add songs from major labels to their playlists. It would be tough to convince investors to turn down that money. The easy part is setting up the place where people can upload and request songs. ------------------ Davey Boy Crocky's Solo Project IP: Logged |

Of course, how could you be sure the requests were coming from listeners and not from artists? I can see a BB with "You request my song and I'll request yours" posts all over it. ------------------ Davey Boy Crocky's Solo Project [This message has been edited by Davey Boy Crocky (edited 04-11-2001).] IP: Logged |

quote: Wow, Davey Boy Crocky! Complete sentences. Tell your mom I said hi. My radio station would only play music where artists had signed a royalty free agreement for use of their music. If they wanted to make money for plays though? I would allow them to pay me $20.00 a month. Not only would they get paid for plays, but the DJ would say their band name a lot louder. Look, Davey Boy. Chinese takeout. [image not archived] ------------------ IP: Logged |
