weAponX, you have any time to try to hook up a listensmart.com LoFi page? You had said something about it I think a week or two ago and it's been on my mind. I'm not refering to anything with any tight rules about recording techniques or anything, just something for our primal material. any thoughts?? Bob Porri ------------------ IP: Logged |

It so happens that I have not only one of my first 4 track recordings ever, but ... actually my first ping pong effort. ![]() Ultra-lo-fi IP: Logged |

Lo Fi means stuff done on cassette, preferrably ping ponged. My song "In Your Head" was done with 4 passes. Or, if you have a live show that you happened to get a decent print of. van told me about using Cool Edit's Noise reduction and Hiss removal to take a noise print- I just had opportunity to check that out, it works great! ------------------ IP: Logged |

The first thing I ever recorded: I started with a drum track generated by my little casio piece-o-doo-doo. Recorded it with a cheap mic onto a cassette. Just one channel. Then I played it into my cheap Radio Shack mixer (one of those powered by 9volt battery jobs) and mixed it with a "bass" line I played using the bottom two strings on my guitar, and recorded onto a second cassette deck. Then I repeated the process and added guitar. The whole thing only existed on one channel of the cassette. The "drums" were virtually gone after only 2 pongs. Everyone I played it for seemed to think it sounded like ZZTop. Man I wish I had that recording today ------------------ Davey Boy Crocky's Solo Project IP: Logged |
