I was checking out all the different types of genre charts and I found out that I had 533 page views last month and only 30 downloads. Does this say that mp3s are too difficult to download from this site or is this pretty normal? I've never really paid attention to this type of thing, but it seems like a pretty low ratio to me.
Any comments?

At mp3c (where I have several months of data) my downloads are about half my pageviews.

It may depend on how many songs you have on your page - if the listener can download 10 songs when he visits your page, your DL/PV ratio is likely to be higher than if only 1 song is available.

I think it has mostly to do with that forced email address that they won't get rid of. Usually my d/l's are half my pageviews as well.

Speaking of pageviews I haven't had one since the 17th. Bog. I used to get about 10 to 20 a day elsewhere.

I think this site's problem is that you only get counted for downloads, not for listens. I usually set up a Hi-Fi radio as soon as I log onto the site, and leave it going for a few hours, yet no one is ever counted for those listens. It's pretty safe to assume that quite a few others are doing the same thing as well...

Just a thought...

The email thing is annoying... but, if LS is going to be paying based on downloads - I sure want them to have good anti-cheating technology in place.

The email check at least stops the moderately honest and technologically naive from cheating. Too bad there's not a really foolproof way to do it, that doesn't interfere with the process.

Anyone can put in false email addresses and the downloads still work though. They need a better way to track it, it's waay too much of a hassle. My cookies are always on, and I have to type in my damn address every time I download something. People will go elsewhere.

I usually tend to get more listens than pageviews, atleast at mp3c. On the other hand, Imagery Flux my old band gets a lot of pageviews sometimes but no listens.
