Check it out -- this is the first instance (publicized) of a major label conceeding Internet rights and leaving the door open to renegotiate download royalties:

Gotta love it!

The thing I find interesting is how much they talk about the screwup with the Rosenbergs. They mention that more than the Fisher deal.

They don't mention how far along she already was before they came to her, and it should be noted that she was doing pretty ok before this deal, hopefully she will do even better now.

If Farmclub is really willing to do deals that are like this, then they may be a viable option, which it appeared they were not prior to this.

I'm gonna go look at their contract now, see what their starting place is now.......

STILL -- good point about checking out if the 'standard' contract has changed. They might be using the Fisher deal as bait.

What's going on Mr. Still? Long time no see. How's Dave? Haven't chatted with that guy in a while too. Give him a slap on the ass for Faith and Me.

Yes, the band Fisher was already proceeding at a good pace. They have an album ready for distribution and they've also got a pretty slammin video - check it out at soundclick.com/videos.cfm . They're a package deal that only needs to be promoted. That gave them power to negotiate which is what they did. They didn't sign to the first label that approched them, and there were more than a few.

Good for them. I'm glad they were able to get a contract in their favor (at least with the website aspect). Break a leg Fisher!
