First impressions from listeners have been more than favorable. The band has been likened to everything from the Isley Brothers to the Jimi Hendrix Experience. | | Artist History : | | • The stars glisten in the sky every evening, and the sun shines everyday. All the while, the wind blows and the rain falls. As citizens of this planet, these things are expected to happen. It was once that the music scene was this reliable. | | Press Reviews | | As music supervisors we get the chance to listen to music all day long from genres across the board. Every once in a while something comes through the office that makes us stop dead in our tracks. Case and point is Mothers Favorite Child. First up on a long bill of mostly homegrown Boston talent, MFC | | Good things people say about Mothers Favorite Child | | SOUL is alive and well!!!
As much as I try to avoid comparisons, I feel compelled to mention Stevie Wonder here for the feel and the freshness of the track. Some careful planning went into the arrangement of this song, though it comes away free and clean, not contrived. Thanks to clever production, I can hear what the room *looks* like, and it's a room full of friends on some snow-day afternoon; it's a room I want to be in. In general, new R&B/soul is like a watered-down drink of what was once so potent....but this band has put a heavenly spin on the genre again; this music is REAL. No criticisms. Loved the whole thing.
